Diamond Sky - Preparation for the Vajrayana

Lama Jampa Thaye will teach on the Buddhist path with reference to his text Diamond Sky - Preparing for Vajrayana. The evening will include a brief outline of the history of Buddhism from its beginnings to the present day, a presentation of the basic teachings of taking refuge in the Three Jewels - the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha - and the Four Thoughts that turn the Mind to Dharma, which together lay the foundation for the Buddhist path to liberation from suffering.

Following this there will be an introduction to the mahayana meditations through which we can develop loving kindness and compassion: bodhichitta, the altruistic attitude to attain the state of Buddha for the benefit of beings.

The evening will conclude with an explanation of the vayrayana, the tantric teachings of the Buddha.
