1952 - Born in Bolton, northern England.
1972 - Started to practice Theravadin meditation and was accepted to read Religious Studies at the University of Manchester.
1973 - Meets Karma Thinley Rinpoche for the first time and takes refuge in the Sakya and Karma Kagyu traditions of Buddhism.
1974 - Meets His Holiness 41st Sakya Trizin in London for the first time. Meets Kalu Rinpoche and receives numerous initiations. Meets H.H. 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje for the first time.
1975 - Founds Kampo Gangra Kagyu Ling, the first Buddhist centre in Manchester, UK, under the direction of Karma Thinley Rinpoche.
1976 - Receives bachelor's degree in Religious Studies, and begins masters' degree in Comparative Religion under supervision of Trevor Ling and Lance Cousins.
1975-7 - Receives numerous teachings from Karma Thinley Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche, Ato Rinpoche, Khamtrul Rinpoche and Dingo Khyentse Rinpoche.
1977 - Karma Thinley Rinpoche appoints Lama Jampa Thaye as his spiritual representative.
1977 - Founds Sakya Thinley Rinchen Ling in Bristol, UK. Receives numerous teachings from H.H. Karmapa, Karma Thinley Rinpoche, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso and Dudjom Rinpoche. Receives the Triple Vision and Triple Tantra preliminaries from H.H. 41st Sakya Trizin.
1978 to 1987 - Received numerous teachings from such masters as Phende Shabdrung Rinpoche and Thrangu Rinpoche as well as making several extensive visits to continue studies with Karma Thinley Rinpoche in Toronto.
1986 - The first of numerous visits to study with H.H. 41st Sakya Trizin in India.
1988 - Conferred the authority to give vajrayana initiations and serve as a lama by Karma Thinley Rinpoche.
1989 - Establishes Sakya Changlochen Ling retreat centre in France. Trip to Nepal to help with the founding of the Buddhist nunnery of his teacher, Karma Thinley Rinpoche, and meeting with Chogye Trichen Rinpoche.
1989 - Publication of the book Diamond Sky, a general overview of Buddhism.
1990 - Publication of the book Garland of Gold, a history of the Kagyu tradition.
1993 - Establishes Karma Dechen Dzong Karma Kagyu Buddhist centre in Harrogate, UK.
1994 - Inauguration of the Mikyo Dorje Shedra, an annual seminary based in the UK for the advanced study of Karma Kagyu philosophical works.
2001 - Publishes The Way of Tibetan Buddhism for Thorson's.
2005 - Meets H.H. the 17th Karmapa, Thinley Thaye Dorje, for the first time.
2005 - Opening of Sakya Dechen Ling Buddhist centre in London, Sakya Dolma Ling in Mexico City, and Sakya Dechen Ling in Stuttgart, Germany.
2006 - Publication of Rain of Clarity, an overview of the stages of the path in the Sakya tradition.
2009 - First visit of H.H. Karmapa Thinley Thaye Dorje to Kagyu Ling in Manchester.
2010 - First teaching at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling, H.H. Karmapa's seat in Europe.
2010 - Opening of Sakya Samten Ling in Santa Monica, CA.
2012 - First teaching as one of the teachers of the annual public meditation course at the Karmapa International Buddhist Society (KIBI) in New Delhi, India.
