Padmasambhava, the ‘Lotus Born Guru’, known to Tibetans as Guru Rinpoche, was the great master from Oddiyana who through his spiritual power ensured the stability and flourishing of the teachings of the Vajrayana in Tibet. He also concealed countless treasure (terma) teachings throughout Tibet for the benefit of future generations. Before departing to the island of Chamara, he promised to come to all who prayed to him. His real nature is no different to that of the buddhas of the three times, and his blessings are still very much present in the world.
