Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism

The generation of bodhichitta, the thought of enlightenment, and the practices which constitute the path of the bodhisattva are unique to Mahayana Buddhism. As a result, the view of what a Buddha is in the Mahayana is also an expansion of the Hinayana view.
