Lama Jampa visited Santa Monica from December 15th to 22nd for a busy program of teaching, initiations and appointments with students.
The program began on Saturday 17th December with the ‘Liberation through Hearing in the Bardo’, Chogyur Dechen Lingpa’s short treasure text on achieving realization in the intermediate state. The teaching had considerable interest from people new to Buddhism, who asked many questions on how these bardo teachings could be applied to certain circumstances. In the afternoon Lama Jampa gave the initiation of Chenrezik Mahamudra from the Sakya tradition.
The following day Lama Jampa resumed teaching from the Rain of Clarity, continuing the section on the six perfections, covering patience, effort and meditation. The teaching was followed by a joyful lunch gathering of local sangha and Lama Jampa and his family at Miranda Harwood’s house.
The next Wednesday 21st of December Lama Jampa gave the initiation of White Tara from the lineage of Shakyashribadra.
Lama Jampa will return to Los Angeles on April 1st 2017 for two weekends of teaching.
