Following the great blessing of His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen’s visit to Sakya Changlochen Ling, Lama Jampa commenced teachings on the recent edition of his text Diamond Sky - Preparing for Vajrayana. Beginning with a brief history of Buddhism and its transmission from India to Tibet, this short work encompasses all of the stages of the path, from becoming a Buddhist by taking refuge, entering the Mahayana by taking the bodhisattva vow, and finally beginning Vajrayana practice through receiving initiation. As such the text brings together and references many classical Indian and Tibetan works, showing and emphasising the dependence of each stage of the path upon the previous one. Lama Jampa was happy to point out that there is nothing original in his book, it all comes from the teachings of the Buddha as passed onto him by his masters.
The course took place in two parts with a pause from 10-15 August whilst Lama Jampa and many of his students joined with the international Buddhist community gathered at Dhagpo Kagyu Ling to receive teachings from His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Thaye Dorje.
As well as the teachings preparing students for Diamond vehicle, Lama Jampa also bestowed two permission initiations, the first being one of White Manjusri from the lineage of Mati Panchen and the second of Red Tara from the lineage of Wagishvakirti.
