Dechen Yorkshire receives teachings on the Union of Dzogchen and Mahamudra, and the blessing of its new centre

Vajrayana Master Lama Jampa Thaye visited Leeds for two extraordinary events this weekend.

On Saturday 20 May, Lama Jampa bestowed the profound teachings of Karma Chakme’s ‘The Union of Dzogchen  and Mahamudra’ at St Chad’s community hall in Headingly. Visitors from across the UK came to enjoy a suitably warm and sunny day as Lama Jampa guided us through this text which has Chenrezik, the embodiment of enlightened compassion, at its heart. The detailed explanation of the text and the practice of Dzogchen and Mahamudra combined made it possible for everyone to develop some understanding, as well as providing plenty for people to take away for further study and contemplation.

The following day Lama Jampa accompanied by Dechen Dolma, visited the new Dechen centre of Kagyu Dechen Choling in Bramley and were welcomed by the Leeds Sangha. After blessing the centre, Lama Jampa saw students individually to give advice regarding their meditation practice and study.

The weekend coincided with the 30th anniversary of Dechen Yorkshire so it was a time to thank Lama Jampa and his family, the sangha, our families, friends and sponsors, for all the great kindness that has been shared with us over these years.

During his time in Leeds, Lama Jampa encouraged Dechen Yorkshire to organise a  study group of these wonderful teachings. This will be also be accessible online via Zoom so that people who are unable to be there in person can join. We hope that many who attended this weekend’s teachings will take part.  A newsletter with full details will arrive during the next few weeks
