Lama Jampa has just completed a short teaching tour of the U.S. He visited Bodhi Path centers in Chicago and Santa Barbara and taught at Sakya Samten Ling in Santa Monica.
While staying at Bodhi Path Chicago Lama Jampa taught an introduction to the Common and Uncommon Madhyamaka.
Subsequently Lama Jampa travelled to Bodhi Path Santa Barbara where he completed his teaching of the Fifth Sharmapa's Seven Points of Mind Training. Both events were well attended.
On Saturday July 18 Lama Jampa gave an extensive presentation of the Twelve Deeds of Shakyamuni Buddha to sangha and friends of Sakya Samten Ling.
The following day saw the bestowal of refuge and the initiation of Green Tara from the lineage of Shakya Shribhadra. To conclude the visit, a garden party was held, hosted by Miranda Harwood, to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the founding of Sakya Samten Ling. This was a joyful occasion at which one of the center co-ordinators Fred Tyler made a speech thanking Lama Jampa for his immense kindness in transmitting the teachings and the blessings of His Holiness and the Sakya lineage in LA. He also acknowledged the wonderful support and work of the sangha in establishing the center in its first five years. Finally he looked forward to the future, reflecting on the wonderful opportunity which lay ahead for the sangha to continue working together in order to create something important and unique for dharma in L.A.
Lama Jampa and Dechen Dolma have now returned to London from where they will travel to Sakya ChangloChen Ling on Friday July 24.
