Lama Jampa and family arrived in France for their summer residence on July 25th. A day later HH the 17th Karmapa arrived at nearby Dhagpo Kagyu Ling and they spent the following days attending His Holiness' initiation and teachings as well as spending some private time with Him.
A week later Lama Jampa returned to Dhagpo to give teachings as part of the celebration of Dhagpo's 40th anniversary as the seat of HH Karmapa in Europe.
On the weekend of the 8th and 9th Lama Jampa taught a course there, entitled 'What Buddhism Can Bring to the West' to a large and enthusiastic audience, explaining how cultural changes in Europe in the last few centuries have prepared the way for Dharma.
Subsequently, to around 70 serious practitioners he gave three days teachings on 'The 50 Verses on the Guru', a key Vajrayana text on the qualifications and roles of the spiritual teacher and the student.
A few days later Lama Jampa bestowed the transmission of the Patrul Rinpoche's famous commentary on 'Hitting the Essence in Three Words' to a small group of students from Dhagpo. He had received this text which explains 'The Three Statements of Garab Dorje' from Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche some forty years ago.
