October–November 2025
The autumn visit of Lama Jampa Thaye to Dechen Los Angeles was a joyful and deeply inspiring occasion, drawing students old and new to receive a series of profound Buddhist teachings. With his characteristic warmth, clarity, and sense of humor, Lama Jampa shared timeless wisdom in a way that felt both authentic to the tradition and deeply relevant for modern life.
The visit began on October 25 with the Initiation of White Saraswati, a luminous vajrayana practice for cultivating wisdom, eloquence, and artistic ability, followed the next day by detailed instructions on the sadhana itself. On October 29, Lama Jampa bestowed the Initiation of Yellow Dzambhala, guiding practitioners in generating prosperity and favorable conditions for spiritual growth.
The program continued at Bodhi Path, Santa Barbara, where on November 1–2, Lama Jampa taught Atisha’s Jewel Rosary of a Bodhisattva—a complete guide to living with compassion and mindfulness on the bodhisattva path. Returning to Dechen LA on November 5, he gave the profound teaching Eight Dream-Like Experiences by Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen, offering practical advice on meditating in solitude, letting go of attachment, and integrating skilful means with wisdom.
The visit concluded on November 8 with Sakya Pandita’s Reply to Nyimo Gomchen, a clear and concise teaching on the essence of Dharma, followed by the Initiation of Manjushri, the embodiment of transcendent wisdom.
Throughout the visit, Lama Jampa’s ability to illuminate complex ideas with humor and precision made the teachings both profound and accessible. His visit left the community inspired, grateful, and more deeply connected to the living wisdom of the Buddha’s path.
