Mexico City doubly blessed by Sakya dharma teachings and transmissions

Earlier this month Lama Jampa and Dechen Dolma were in Mexico City for a few weeks of teachings hosted by the Sakya centre there, Sakya Dolma Ling. This was a very special visit due to the presence of His Holiness Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, the 42nd Gongma Trichen, whom Lama jampa had requested to bestow teachings.

As well as Lama Jampa’s teaching programme, the members of Sakya Dolma Ling were honoured to host a two days event with His Holiness. On the first day His Holiness gave teachings on the famous text Instructions to the Emperor, composed by the great Sakyapa master Chogyal Phakpa for his disciple the Mongol emperor Kublai Khan. On the second day, His Holiness bestowed the empowerment of the Noble Lady of Immortality, White Tara, and Avalokiteshvara, Padma Natesvara. This is a representation of the goddess of longevity, Tara, in union with Avalokiteshvara in the form of the Lotus Lord of Dance, originally revealed to the Sakya master Jamyang Chentze Wangpo (1820–1892). Whilst His Holiness completed his preparation for the bestowal of the initiation, Lama Jampa fulfilled his request to give a short presentation concerning the nature of vajrayana initiation and the commitments involved.

Lama Jampa's teachings began the week before His Holiness' visit with the bestowal of the initiation of Red Saraswati. This was followed by a series of teachings on Dispelling the Darkness of Suffering, a commentary on the Seven Points of Mind Training composed by Karma Thinley Rinpoche. Finally, following the visit of His Holiness, Lama Jampa bestowed the initiation of the Thousand Armed Chenrezik from the lineage of the female siddha Lakshminkara.

The visit of His Holiness and Lama Jampa to Dechen Mexico was full of joy and brought renewed enthusiasm to the practitioners of Sakya Dolma Ling and beyond.
