These were Lama Jampa’s first public teachings of 2019. Click here for full events list.
Lama Jampa arrived in LA on Tuesday January 8 for a week of teachings. The first event was a public talk on Thursday January 10 entitled ‘Clarity and Compassion’. This was a lovely event, well attended by over thirty people, including members from other communities such as Bodhi Path. Held at Sakya Samten Ling (Sakya Buddhist Center LA) the evening concluded with the refuge ceremony for three new members of the sangha.
At the weekend Lama Jampa gave the initiation of Green Tara and a detailed explanation of the sadhana composed by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. People found that it was very helpful having the time with Lama Jampa to go through the practice in detail in order to clarify their understanding of the sadhana. This practice is part of the weekly programme at Sakya Buddhist Center LA. Click here for more information.
The weekend concluded with a lunch on the Sunday afternoon with Lama Jampa as the guest of honour. Hosted by Miranda Harwood, it was an opportunity for sangha from across the Americas and Europe to catch up with one another socially, and was much enjoyed by all.
Throughout the week Lama Jampa gave interviews to sangha members. These short interviews are a unique opportunity for students to discuss their individual dharma practice with the Lama.
Lama Jampa will return to LA in April. His next teaching will be this coming weekend in Bristol. Click here for details.
